The Sartorialist's Vintage Photo Contest

I like looking into old photos, as you can see from the yesterday's post on Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Last March, The Sartorialist, one of the many blogs I read, held a vintage photo contest featuring people wearing stylish outfits of the era.

Of all the vintage photos, my favorite is perhaps that one above. They are a Japanese family getting ready to emigrate to California. I like that the man in the middle looks very confident and comfortable in his leather jacket and fedora hat. He kinda reminds me of my D, who always looks sharp when we're going out.

Last year, Scott Schuman of The Sartorialist released a book titled The Sartorialist, a photographic work on street wear. My Polish fellow Marcin bought one in Seoul's Kyobo bookstore since it had yet to reach Poland. I don't know if it's sold here in Indonesia, but since it doesn't have the vintage photos, I might pass this one.
